Miami football needs to continue Clemson’s negative margin trend

The Miami soccer team must continue the trend of Clemson posting a minus-six revenue margin in their last three games. Clemson broke a minus-three turnover margin at Syracuse, winning three weeks ago 27-21 and three turnovers to two from Louisville in a 31-16 win over Louisville last week.

Clemson threw two no-turnover interceptions for Notre Dame in a 35-14 loss two weeks ago at South Bend. The Miami soccer team had its first game with a positive revenue margin since a 20-14 win at Virginia Tech when the Hurricanes were in a 35-14 win at Georgia Tech plus four last Saturday.

Positive Miami revenue margins at Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech are the only ones for the Hurricanes in their last eight games. Miami started the season with back-to-back plus-two games against Bethune-Cookman and Southern Mississippi. Miami had a -11 turnover margin in the seven games ahead of Georgia Tech.

Miami had two interceptions each against Georgia Tech quarterback Zach Gibson and Zach Pyron last Saturday. Safety Kamren Kinchens set a Miami record with three interceptions, including a 99-yard touchdown return, and now leads the country in picks. Cornerback Tyrique Stevenson had the other interception against Georgia Tech.

Miami has forced multiple turnovers in just three games against Power Five opponents this season. What cost Miami offensively turns the ball around deep in their own territory. Miami had two turnovers in their own 30, once against Middle Tennessee State and three plus an interception return against Duke.

Clemson quarterback DJ Uiagalelei has thrown six interceptions in the past three weeks, two against Syracuse and one against Notre Dame. Against Georgia Tech, it was only the third time this season that Miami had multiple interceptions in the same game. Miami has recovered multiple fumbles in the same game three times in 2022.

Five of the 11 fumbles lost in Miami this season came against Duke. The Miami offense has thrown multiple interceptions three times this season. Miami is 4-0 in games this season when they have a positive revenue margin. The Hurricanes are 0-4 with negative margins and 1-1 in games where margins were even.

Clemson had a positive revenue margin three times and even four times as the Tigers started the 2022 season and won their first seven games. The Tigers have won two of their last three games despite the negative revenue margin. The sales range is often an indicator of who will win and Saturday should continue that trend.
