2018, Seek became a Rotten Tomatoes Certified Fresh hit when it presented the exciting story of a father trying to make the most of technology to find his missing 16-year-old daughter. Now the 2023 movies list starts with the sequel to the movie. Absence.
While the new film features a brand new cast and instead follows a teenage daughter trying to find her mother who went missing while on vacation in South America, Absence Directors Will Merrick and Nick Johnson try to captivate viewers with exciting plot twists and an unexpected series of events that show what a person will do to find a loved one.

Absence Premieres in US theaters on Friday, January 20.
Potential viewers in the UK will have to wait a little longer to see the film in cinemas as it doesn’t premiere in the country until Friday 24th February.
Here is the official synopsis of Absence:
“From the minds behind it Seek comes Absence, a thrilling rollercoaster mystery that will have you wondering how well you know your closest friends. When her mother (Nia Long) disappears while on vacation in Colombia with her new boyfriend, June’s (Storm Reid) search for answers is hampered by international bureaucracy. Stuck thousands of miles away in Los Angeles, June is creatively using the latest technology at her disposal to try and find her before it’s too late. But as she digs deeper, her digital sleuthing raises more questions than answers… and as June reveals secrets about her mother, she discovers she never really knew her.”
lead the Absence Cast is young actress Storm Reid. She gained a lot of notoriety while starring as Meg A wrinkle in time in 2018. Since then she has appeared in The Suicide Squad as Tyla and euphoria as Gia.
Storm is joined by veteran actress Nia Long. Long’s career began when she played Brandi in the classic Boyz in the hood. With a career spanning a few decades, she has been spotted in projects ranging from The Fresh Prince of Bel Air to Big Mama’s houseand recently reprized her role as Jordan for The Best Man: The Final Chapters.

co-director Absence are Will Merrick and Nick Johnson. The project marks the first time Merrick and Johnson have directed a full-length film. However, both were previously editors of the Seek Movie.
