Digital release date and streaming details

Black Adam was one of the most anticipated films from the DC Extended Universe after Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson teased the film back in 2007. Now that the film is finally out after 15 years, it has made little headway at the box office.

The film was widely promoted by the cast but underperformed, grossing $367.5 million in one month in theaters worldwide. Since the film’s theatrical release isn’t too profitable, Warner Bros. (WB) cut its losses and made it available for streaming well ahead of the standard schedule.

A press release from WB recently announced that the film will be available on streaming platforms starting Tuesday, November 22nd. The star-studded film is now the first to receive the shortest theatrical window within DCU. It’s of particular concern to WB since it’s a movie that was released during Big Fall.

Black Adam is part of Amazon Prime Videos “In-Theater Movies at Home” for viewers in the US and UK. However, in order to watch the film, you must first be an Amazon Prime member. Amazon Prime Video also offers a 30-day free trial, after which standard pricing applies.

Indian audiences will have to wait to see it on a regular streaming platform. However, it can be rented for $20 from Apple iTunes, Vudu, and Google Play Movies & TV. You can also purchase the film to watch unlimited times for $25. The Blu-ray 4K release will also be out on January 3, 2023.

The stones #BlackAdam is now available on digital for US and UK audiences. Soon on Indian platforms via Rent.

Why is Black Adam Available to stream this early?

The Batman experienced an incredible response from viewers and critics. This signaled WB that there is a certain level of goodwill that the latest DCU offering could see similar reception. However, Black Adam received a not-so-great score of 41 on Metacritic (although the user score is a much higher 74).

The cast did a great deal of promoting the film, but the film didn’t have much else to excite fans. One of the few things that sparked anticipation for the film was an appearance by Henry Cavill’s Superman.

The move to make the film available for streaming is a way for WB to cut its losses while still making a profit through another platform.
