An Alien Knockoff by Jake Gyllenhaal is streaming

Jake Gyllenhaal’s alien rip-off, Life, is currently climbing the Hulu streaming charts.

Because Jake Gyllenhaal is currently lending his voice to the Disney animated film strange world In theaters this Thanksgiving holiday, it appears that some viewers are keen to see some of his other work from years past. FlixPatrol reports that the Gyllenhaal-led film life just climbed the Hulu top ten list of movies and is now at number six. The 2017 sci-fi thriller features a strong cast and has been compared to Ridley Scott extraterrestrialalthough it is also seen by many critics as an imitation of this classic film.

Directed by Daniel Espinosa, life Stars Jake Gyllenhaal as Medical Officer Dr. David Jordan, joining a mission on the International Space Station with a crew of six joined by Engineer Rory Adams (Ryan Reynolds) and CDC Quarantine Officer Dr. Miranda North (Rebecca Ferguson) belong. The film is a showcase of international space exploration, starring actors Hiroyuki Sanada representing Japan, Olga Dihovichnaya representing Russia and Ariyon Bakare representing the United Kingdom. The mission hits a snag when the crew finds the first evidence of life on Mars, and the life form is evolving at a rapid rate that eventually threatens the crew and all life on Earth.

Jake Gyllenhaal’s vehicle life was released in March 2017 after making its debut at that year’s South by Southwest Film Festival and eventually grossing over $100 million at the box office on a budget of $58 million. The only joint effort by Skydance Media and Sony Pictures to date, life was a major blockbuster project for Swedish director Daniel Espinosa before he attempted to tackle it disease with Jared Leto, which was released earlier this year to negative reviews. Before the release of there was a popular fan theory life that the film would serve as the origin story for the symbiote it appears in Spider-Man 3 and later the poison and disease movies, but that wasn’t the case in the end.

Even if the cash receipts for life were pretty decent, critics and audiences were mixed in their reviews of the Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Reynolds film. Rotten Tomatoes currently ranks the film at 67% on its Tomatometer, based on 262 critic reviews and an audience score of 54% from over 25,000 reviews from verified users of the site. Similarly, Metacritic reflects a Metascore of 54 based on reviews from 44 critics and a User Score of 6.4 from 556 user reviews, typically meaning mixed or average reviews from critics and generally positive reviews from viewers.

Among Hulu’s top ten, life and Jake Gyllenhaal seems to be doing just fine considering most of the movies trending among Hulu subscribers are vacation projects. Ron Howards How the Grinch Stole Christmas currently sits pretty much at number one for this week’s streamer while others like movies don’t worry darling and how high also get high ratings. With the fall season upon us, dusk also makes its way into the top ten on Hulu, in addition to the new Jon Hamm movie, Admit it, Fletch.
